Index

Index is the OG one and was built in 2022. The main concept was a mix of futuristic, space-themed, and terminal-style design. On the technical side, all the graphical stuff had to be made with only CSS and JS—no image files. It took some effort, but for something this personal, let idealism—always—dominate.

The Space Jam website, Star Wars, and Power Rangers in Space were the first things that came to mind.

The Space Jam website inspired the solar system I put in the header—as well as the concept of a site menu with icons. The big yellow "arkhlima" text style was inspired by the Star Wars logo. The "space" in Power Rangers in Space... I liked it and took inspo from it. And one thing those three have is... a starfield background.

Alphonse Elric's blood rune painted in red inside his armour.

I wrote a manifesto—the most serious shit on this site. It took time and came from a lot of reflection. And I thought a visual statement might strengthen it. Something like a symbol... ora seal... and somehow I stuck with Al's blood seal from FMA.

It's a bit complicated, but I remember wanting to put a figure that represented me—not entirely, 50:50. Showing my face was a big no. Then I thought it was better to draw it.

  • A design reference sheet of the RX-78-2 Gundam head.
  • Shino Aburame wearing his signature visor and green jacket.
  • A close-up of the RoboCop reboot helmet with its red visor light.
  • A short clip from Ready Player One of a man in a VR visor that flashes orange kanji.

I like Gundam, and I think RX-78-2 would be a good fit here. At the same time, I remembered another reference that’s stuck in my head—the scene in Ready Player One where Daito transforms into the RX-78-2. It was cool and inspired me to make a human-to-Gundam transition too. Also, I used a fusion of Shino Aburame's visor and RoboCop's red visor to make a cool visor for the human figure.
